I'm taking a bit of a break from Works-For-Me Wednesday today because I am up to my ears in a particularly unpopular task around here: switching over the kids' clothes from one season to the next. And while I generally try to keep a positive attitude regarding unpleasant household tasks. I have to tell you that this one My boys consider trying on last year's clothes the most vile punishment imaginable and HAVE MERCY ON US ALL if we actually have to go shop for something new. So you all just post your clever links below and if you need me. I'll be upstairs buried under a pile of boys' size 8 and 10 slims. And keeping a fork nearby. We do it one kid at a time... I make a limitations decision (2 weeks worth of clothes) and the oldest goes and clears all her drawers and hangers. We do the sort/try-on/choose get the donation pile started fill the trash bag with the trashed stuff and then make a list of fill-in pieces she'll need to avoid being naked all winter. Then roll on down to #2 and so on. Since mine are mixed sex opposite seasons and very different body styles we actually end up with very very few hand-me-downs but we do end up with LARGE donation sacks. Have fun.. put on music eat chocolate bribe the little beggars to wear the clothes for 30 seconds. I also have a bin of size 5 clothes (that vary widely in actual physical size of course) in the hall waiting to be tried upon a 4 year old boy who is somewhere between sizes and none too thrilled about trying things on... He considers it a huge imposition to have to stop to dress every morning so the clothing bin thing? Not popular. When we lived in Colorado we never changed out the clothes - clothes for all seasons hung in the closets year round and it was a beautiful thing. Now that we're back in the Midwest I've been reintroduced to this unpleasant task. Our basement explodes twice a year (more than that really) with all these goofy clothes. And then my big problem? When I finally got them all up I realized my 4 year old had no less than 25 pairs of pants. 25. So today I had to go through again and pull about half of those out for goodwill. Because I really like handling childrens clothes over and over and over and over and over... To quote Dana "My husband has this thing about pulling out the clothes and refolding them. Regularly. It drives me nuts." WOW!!!! That is amazing that he does that Dana. My husband's favorite place for his clothes is beside the bed ON THE FLOOR! I make piles for everyone and when they don't want to fit I just wash the clothes when they reach the laundry and don't return them. In time they have almost nothing left and want to have the winterclothes. So they get them one by one. Thet have to ask because I won't return the winterclothes that fit untill they have tried them all. Makes a bit of a mess in the house but it works. One day your children will be grown up and gone and you'll only have to switch your own. I have so few clothes they all hang together--no mess no fuss! I should have taken a break from WFMW too; I'm having a hard time thinking of anything that works for me that anyone would want to know about! On my gratitude list I would include all the Works for Me Wednesday posters and bloggers who are so generous sharing their tips and their lives. I have learned so so much. And many many thanks to Shannon for building a community of positive women and moms. Your blog has been a shot of empowerment so many times when I've needed it. God's blessings to everyone! Nothings working for me too right now. The change of season colds and viruses going around and the holidays right around the corner. I wait until the frost is on the ground to put up the shorts and T-shirts. Try doing it for eight kids - 7 months to 12 years old. Half boys half girls. It's a nightmare. Really. Hope it goes quickly! Although not my favorite thing to do my girls and I like going through and seeing what will fit what we can give away and what we need to buy. And because there is 6 years between my girls it's fun to see my youngest daughter in classic style clothes that my oldest wore. I also love a big bag of give away clothes! Rainy day out so when you get approve to the house you can impel your soaked shoes on the radiator--if you can be with the smell that fills the room five minutes later. For those that can't hack the stench there's the Eco Shoes Dryer made from absorbent silica gel. It plugs right into the wall and ordain set you back less than 30 bucks a accept determine to pay for dry feet. right.. because the first thing we all be to do is plug a sopping wet apparel into an electrical outlet. wasn't there a PSA at the end of a gi joe episond that illustrated this situation? Nice idea but come on can you imagine how dirty the wall would be after a few uses. If your shoes are wet they're gonna be muddy and dirty. Appealing but could be a little smarter. Why does it need to stick into the wall. Have it corded leading to 2 of them and you can put them on a mat while they dry. I must be missing something. Does this device insert into your shoe? If so how would one then plug the device in if the plug is in the bottom of the shoe's heel? It looks as if the plug would have to go through the angle of the shoe. Do you plug in to charge and then flip drink the plug and put the dryer into the apparel?

You experienced the problem before. Your cycling shoes are soaked after a wet ride or race. Up until now the best way to dry them was to either load them up with paper towels or completely change state them up to dry. A company called L. I. D (Life In Detail) created a shoe dryer primarily for folks who suffer from sweaty feet. Athletes such as cyclist triathletes runners etc who battle the elements can use something to dry out their wet shoes other than an extra pair. I have been to a few different appliance stores but have been unsuccessful getting the correct belt for my dryer. I even took the old one in and we tried measuring them but none were an exact fit. The numbers on the belt are long gone and apparently the copy number on my dryer is unheard of. The dryer isn't that old (5 years maybe). Inside the dryer door I have the following: Model: FSEC447GHSO It's a frigidaire gallery "heavy duty" dryer. If anyone could get me the part number or the "real" copy be for my dryer it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance David

"Ultimate Hand-Dryer Battlemodo: Mitsubishi Jet Towel vs. Dyson ..." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-07 18:08:50

If you are wondering why we're engaged in a totally ridiculous Ultimate Hand-Dryer Battlemodo it's because you asked for it. When we aired and the Airblade some of you guys pounced on Dyson. "embarrased for having claimed to have invented the horizontal hand dryer only to sight the Japanese have had it for years," and so on. But last week when some Giz readers raised the Union Jack and sided with Sir James due to your love of Dyson vacs. There's a lot of heat here and yeah we're fanning the flames with pre-game stats and the obligatory cast aside communicate. sight that the Dyson has a HEPA air separate but the Mitsubishi doesn't? Says the Dyson camp: The Jet pass over draws the already filthy air through a basic gauze filter (designed to defend the motor) using the heating element stores unfiltered air at around 95°F (ideal temp for breeding bacterial) and then blows it out on your hands and approve into the room. Even though you just washed your hands the air from Jet Towel contaminates them all over again with warm bacteria remove air. It's a vicious make pass. [The HEPA filter] clogs very quickly and when it does the air flow is dramatically reduced. Mitsubishi open this to be adjust when they experimented with HEPA filters long ago. See that the Mitsubishi has a course tank but there isn't one on the Dyson? Mitsubishi camp says: Because the Airblade has no course store (unlike the Jet pass over's course tank which is easily emptied in about five seconds) when the filter runs out and has not been changed the bacteria is exhausted into the environment. Very unsanitary. [Also] wet splashes out the sides of the unit and therefore drips down the align of the unit and onto the surprise. You ordain probably sight this happens change surface after 5-10 uses. It does not come about with the Jet pass over. A serious sanitary issue. expend water stagnates in a collection tray mounted alter above the storage heater warming up and brewing bacteria. The Dyson motor's lifespan is estimated at about 1/3 of the lifespan of the Jet Towel [we undergo ascertained that this is adjust]. If there is a problem with the Dyson motor it is mechanically almost impossible to regenerate it. On the other hand the Jet Towel go is modular and can be easily swapped out if needed (but has not happened in our undergo). Jet Towel's DC brushless motor is less efficient and not as powerful therefore only generating a 200MPH airflow. [Mitsu claims change surface less at 180MPH.] There's definitely a pissing contest happening here. All we have to do now is get a bunch of populate to wash their hands dry them off in both machines and express us how they feel. be tuned dudes cuz the Ultimate Hand-Dryer Battlemodo is heating up. So Dyson like Megamaid has gone from drink to breathe out... Clearly. Sir James is not THAT interested in green tech or else he wouldn't have made a noise polluting energy guzzling landfill. er filling device that does its darndest to act regular aerosolised water from becoming nutrient broth that supports "harmful" bacteria for one to smoke and/or smear all over everything they touch. Maybe he needs to make a force field of anti-bacterial protection around every human on hide. Oh and make it noisy as FU*K! That's a lot of trash talking. It's hard to believe you got those kind of sound bytes from official company stooges. That being said if it's hand dryers are anywhere near as overpriced cheaply constructed and mediocre performing as it's vacuums. Dysons going to get spanked. (1) Use the facilities in a public restroom.(1a) Flush as necessary.(2) Wave hand under public sink faucet to turn it on.(3) Wet hands. (4) discharge industrial-pink public clean on hands.(5) Lather(6) Rinse(7) tell as necessary.(8) shift hands to turn off faucet on public sink.(9) Look at wet hands and wish them dry.(10) Immediately discover what these devices are for. They have installed the Dyson ones in the movie theatres here and yes they are noisy but in the speed that your hands dry its pretty alter can't wait to see who wins this one oh and Mitsubishi: who makes beige electronics anymore?!. unless I'm alter blind and its plate... say that hospitals use neither. They use Buick's process through step 8 (with the caveat of 15 seconds for #4) and then paper towel dry. Alcohol anti-bacterial after if you prefer followed with anti-bacterial lotion (not from the basket). At exactly what MPH does go strip flesh from hit the books? Is 400 necessary or just a be? What's TCO for both units over anticipated lifespan? Nobody's putting one in unless it costs less than other methods (or they have to be high tech/trendy). I've used the Airblade on a trip over to England. It was the first time I've ever used an air dryer all the way to the end. With the crap they have around here you see everyone myself included sticking their hands under the air "dryer" and after about 5 secs of drying wipe their hands on their shirts/pants on the way out. my office has the dyson airblades in the bathrooms everyone kind of.

"Works For Me: Grandkids' Room" posted by ~Ray

No. I'm not a grandparent--not yet. (Though if the bizarre popping noise my knees alter when I climb my stairs is any indication an invitation from AARP should be arriving any day.) I've mentioned that my parents have recently moved to our city. It has been absolutely delightful and my children have eagerly set up obtain at their accommodate of Endless Chewing Gum. And my parents knowing that there would be a stabilise be adrift of Dryer kids funneling through had the good comprehend to move one of their bedrooms into a "grandkids room". It's still a bedroom but it contains my old dollhouse and my brothers' old Star Wars toys with a few new things thrown in. But the most brilliant thing about it is an idea my mom implemented. She actually told me I had to overlap this with all of you because she says "it's the only good idea" she's ever come up with. Which doesn't say a whole lot about what she thought of but as long as she continues to provide remove babysitting. I can get over it. Anyhoo my parents' six grandkids are regularly coming to their accommodate and leaving a trail of drawings and there's only so much one refrigerator door can direct even a grandmother's. So my mom bought six bulletin boards one for each grandchild and she painted the frames bright red. Then for each grandchild she bought one of those unfinished wood initals you can buy at any fashion hold on. (Thankfully each grandchild has a different first initial which makes it easy.) She painted each intial and has attached it to its own bulletin board and all six of them lie the walls. Now when grandkids go over and draw another "consider" there's a place to put them. And the kids are all thrilled that their creations are being used to alter the dwell. You mentioned AARP ealier so I ordain make a funny commnet about it-I was born in 1959,but in 2006 I was sent a letter welcoming me to AARP. I sent the invitation approve and told them to correct their computer. I figured that they transposed the 9 and 6! I don't have grandkids either, but when we lived in a rural ara of Alalbama 13 years ago I was at the OB office I would see teenage daughters coming in with thei rmoms who were going to be grandmothers-at 35 and I was expecting our second child!! Maybe it has something to do with the GIANT CHUNKS OF pelt move back and forth piled ever-so-neatly on my kitchen counter. Or maybe it's the fact that tonight we've MOVED THE REFRIGERATOR INTO THE ENTRY WAY to alter room for the tile guys (we be like the Clampits). Don't get me wrong. I'm very grateful we're able to do this--it's fun to see the new things act shape and these changes were long overdue. And I declare a conceive of when it's all done in (drink) about six weeks. But in the meantime the flying sheet move back and forth clean seems to undergo sucked all creative thought out of my hit. I always get that "warm fuzzy". "be to hug my own kids" feeling when you talk about yours. Since there is no other "gushy" moment in the world like the moment that your kids enter your world maybe you could write about their birth. Then I'm sure that I ordain cry and tell all my friends to go construe your communicate (like I always do when you write sappy kid stories). Unless you had terrible labor intense pain and bad doctors. In that case maybe you could just not write that story and create verbally about another heart entangle kid memory. Ok enough rambling by me. I always love your blog change surface if you feel like you are in a slump. I would desire for you to describe a typical "day in the life" of Shannon. He listened to what happened asked me for my communicate and sent me a new sing. He didn't even ask me to affirm my purchase information. I was blown away. Sorry off the soapbox now. Shannon how much effort do you have to put into your blog on a daily basis and on top of that how much additional time do you spend on the computer reading other blogs (or just surfing)? We am currently expecting do by #3. Our third boy. I like my boys and am very excited to undergo another but my boys they are all boy. manipulate climbing sword swinging food devouring and fearless boys. How did/do you contain all the boy clutter? Any tips on making meals stretch? undergo you had to approach broken bones or stitches? No challenge for you. Just wanted to say that I conclude your hurt with the mess in your house. We had two leaks in our sewer line repaired this week. One was hit in the middle of the living room and one was in the know bedroom. We had to move out for the repairs and now that we're back. I have to put my entire house approve together. My hubby's Star Wars room looks worse than the Clampetts alter now because the majority of our belongings are in there right now. Not to put you on the spot or anything but here goes: how did you desire the South Beach fast. Or to put it bluntly did it back up you suffer the weight you wanted to suffer? Do you comfort do it? I'm a WWer at heart but it's a little TOO flexible for me sometimes; thinking about SB and I be to hear your ever-so-objective opinion... How is the no carb diet going? What sorority were you in and what was your experience desire? (I was a sorority girl myself 17 years ago!)How do you sight time for your devotional/ quiet measure each day? Likewise where do you fit in all the craftiness and reading? I struggle with all of the above. I have been reading your blog faithfully for over a year and I get excited to see what you have to share each day. I undergo really go to know you even though I don't know you. We both be in Oklahoma and we undergo so much in common. I have no doubt that if you lived in my small town we would be fast friends!!Thanks for letting me "lurk" around your communicate each day!!! You said any question... I noticed your "I desire Mike" button on the align of your blog. I desire Mike too and was wondering if you would convey a little further why you decided to put his add your website? Or in other words (to be more blunt) you be particular about all the products you approve why him over all the others? Just curious :o) (sorry if I'm suppose to address politics!)Georgia Mom I am new to blogs. Up until a week ago. I didn't really know what they were! Early as in we haven’t even had a chance to check Consumer Reports yet. For accent we’ve had top-loading in the past and are hoping to alter the leap to front-loaders. Given that we undergo capacity is a study consideration. So… If you undergo any insight or advice when it comes to front-loading washers and dryers please don’t be shy… overlap what you know in a comment. Thanks! We got a front-loading washer/dryer set four years ago and love ‘em. I can’t create by mental act ever going back to top loading. One suggestion either acquire or create a base to raise them up a foot or two of the surprise so the doors are at jostle level. This will deliver your approve. My boyfriend has a a lot of trouble with his Maytags. First the dryer then the washer. The dryer was worth repairing but the washer would have been more expensive to fix than it was worth change surface though it was less than 5 years old. We purchased a set of Whirlpool Duet washer and dryer and have been very impressed. The washer itself ordain command at least a beat laundry basket beat if not more. We were able to fit 3 beat “loads” (what our previous top fill took) in. Regarding Dylan’s mention about the risers we debated whether to get those when we purchased our units (it would have included storage space) but opted not to. Most stores will undergo both setups so you can see which works best for you. After just recently moving and deciding to grade to HE washers we bought the Kenmore elite. But we went with a top loading HE washer (color Kenmore Elite Oasisâ„¢ 4.5 cu ft. Canyon Capacityâ„¢ Washer. )after a lot of research the problem with the front loaders seems to be the seals on the doors and I didnt be to undergo to get the door change state on the washing machine all the time. Plus I have always trusted Kenmore and undergo had great experiences with them We bought GE Adora (washer and dryer) in Nov of 2006. For both of them we paid around $1860. It was one of the very few frontloaders rated safe to go on a second surprise. I really enjoy using my Adora. It is quiet calm and very efficient. It uses so little wet that I sometimes query how in the world it can get things clean. It also supposedly uses less electricity. I never had any problem with it. I solved the washer’s vibration problem by putting them both on a thick utility rug. It absorbes the vibration and prevents the washer from “walking”. It has different spin speeds that you can decide from and change surface on the highest go around speed I don’t undergo a problem with the vibration. However hauling them on the second floor was a problem for the delivery guys. They told me that the front-loaders charge about 4 times more than top-loaders. It is very spacious and I can do in 1 load what used to act 2. I process pillows and comfortors for myself and my friends/exteded family it is much cheaper than taking them to a dry cleaners. Now I always have freshly cleaned comforters which it nice because before they went years between washing. Supposedly. I can also safely wash and dry running shoes in it but I never tried. The dryer has some detector in it that allows it to know when the clothes are sufficiently dry and it will stop authomatically even if it was programmed to dry longer so you won’t over-dry the clothes and it helps to save on electricity. Also the dryer is very powerful and on the highest setting it can shrink clothes so I use the Medium setting and I am happy with the results. Only one time I had a problem: the dryer wount’ dry because one wet comforter was too heavy for it. Once it dried out a bit on its own the dryer was able to fihish drying it. That was the only problem I ever had with them. By the way check out for Maytag - the reviews on their products are almost depressing. They had several class action lawsuits pending against them a few years approve. I am not sure how that got resolved. I did quite a bit of investigate before I bough mine and I open out that half of all the brands are owned by the same affiliate. desire Wirlpool and a couple of others were owned by the same affiliate and their reviews were very mixed. We purchased a Maytag Neptune washer and dryer several years ago and we love them. They weren’t cheap but turned out to be come up worth the cost for their savings on our utility bills and for convenience. act a be at the back up carve up of my affix for a few ore details. So are you looking for a front-loader or do you be high-efficeincy? if it is the latter then there are top loading high efficency washers available… We had to buy a new washer and dryer last December. We had the Sears tech out (as move of a yearly plan we had) and I asked him his thoughts since he worked on them. Now our laundry room is on the back up floor of our townhouse and he recommended not getting the front loader because they have twice the RPM of the drums as a normal washer. And because that rotation is oriented vertically it can jump around a bit on a joisted surprise like you would see in a second floor laundry. He recommended we analyse our the “Oasis” lie from Kenmore Elite. They are comfort high efficiency and the same high-speed RPM as the lie loaders but the washer is top loading. The difference from other top loaders is that while normal top loaders work to act the clothes through the water the high efficiency onces work by workign the water through the clothes. Much better for the clothes. Additionally there is no “agitator” the tower in the lay of the traditional top-load washer making the capicity tremendously higher than traditional top-loaders. The service plan had a furnish for credits off a new washer if the repair exceeded a certain dollar be so I went for the Oasis washer and dryer set. Needless to say they have been working overtime and we couldn’t be happier. We undergo a 10-month old who get here a month before the machines did (convenient measure for a washer to end). My only gripe is that as prevalent as high-efficency washers are these days the stores comfort haven’t grasped that they require detergent formulated specially for high-efficency (less launder capability with equal or better cleaning capability). So you need to decide if it really is a front-loader you be (more trendy we’ll say) or is it actually high-efficiency. If it is the latter there are disunite options. (I could go into much more detail because I did a ton of reasearch assert the lay of a few days but I ordain say I gave the Oasis recommendation to my neighbors and they like them as well) We bought the LG WM0642 front loading washer a bring together months ago as a replacement for a top-loading piece of junk and it works great. The.
